Yes, this is a way of them to determine who is the more dominant dog. It allows them to know who is the leader also known as the Alpha.

Just as children play by hitting, dogs play by biting. As long as neither is drawing blood, your playing pups should be just fine.

In short, yes. Playful nipping and biting are common with playful dogs. You may notice a slight amount of what you perceive to be aggression thrown in to their play sessions. As long as there are no "tucked" tails or fully bared teeth, there is no cause for alarm.

Yes, dogs to bit while playing. You must watch though because this can also lead to a fight. If one is not submissive to the other one dog will be the more aggressive. This is a dominace factor.
