Yellowjackets, adrenid bees, ground hornets, plasterer bees, and miner(digger) bees burrow, among others.. as do ground nesting wasps, including cicada killers and scoliid or tiphiid wasps. Males hover over holes in lawn waiting for the females to come out. These kinds of ground bees are not as aggressive.
