Raccoons are the leading carriers of rabies which is an extremely dangerous disease. Virtually 100% of rabie victims die. Just because a raccoon is a baby and may look extremely cute, do not be fooled. The mother could be a carrier and could pass it on to her babies which could pass it on to you if bitten.

If it was a captive-raised raccoon there is little risk of disease. There is a slight chance that a wild raccoon could have acquired rabies in utero. Raccoons are not known carriers of a specific disease.

Mother raccons carry diseases and pass it on to the babies. If you are bitten by a baby raccoon you will need to go to the emergency room immediately. These animals carry rabies and the treatment for that can be very painful. This is a very serious situation and shouldn't be taken lightly.
