Rusty water is not only unsightly, it can smell and taste bad, dirty clothes, and not clean. In rare circumstances it may even signal harmful contamination of water supplies. If the problem is really rust, it's just a discomfort and makes you sick.

Rusty water alone can't make you sick, but since rusty water often is still standing and enriched with iron, bacteria and other organisms can trive easily and some of them can cause you to get sick. Basically, don't drink rusty water, and if you got rusty water in a wound or something, you should go get a tetanus checkup.

high iron content in water is generally harmless, and iron is in fact a necessary part of the human diet. In very high concentrations, of course, consuming too much iron can cause some problems in the long term, but generally water with rust can be considered safe. To be perfectly safe, get your water tested.

Rusty water can be harmful if you don't have a tetanus shot, but can still be dangerous. Obviously you don't want rust in your body, so you will want to go and buy a filter to filter the rust out.

Yes. You should drink normal, tested, clean water. If you can see the rust, don't drink it, it will make you sick
