While it's very possible, and perhaps even probable, that the child would survive (depending on it's age or course; A newborn surely wouldn't), it would also probably have some life long damages. Things like Shaken Baby Syndrome and other awful syndromes like it are common due to such occurrences.

Babies (and humans) have been known to survive everything, but also die or be seriously injured from the smallest thing, so it depends, but MAKE SURE this doesn't happen to find out.
