Horse manure is an excellent form of fertilizer. The carbon and chemicals in it will also help to attract useful insects and bacteria. Be sure not to use to much though or you will kill the undergrowth.

Mix the horse manure with the soil. It does not matter the ration of manure to soil nor is the freshness of the dung important, although dried horse dung does concentrate the nutrients more so than fresh dung. Any herbivore's fecal matter serves the same purpose. Bovine fecal matter is perhaps better than horse manure.

Only after it is composted for a few month's. There is no direct nutrient's Unless it is broke down by beneficial bacteria like Rhizobia or Mycorrhiza. Let the manure break down first.

No horse manure is to strong for new sod. The sod comes with its own dirt. You need to till the ground before you put the sod down and water, water, water until it takes. Horse manure is to strong and will burn the grass. Manure is good for fertilizing a vegetable garden.

I wouldn't use very much if it was fresh. Older manure is fine. The older the better. I would really water it down too. When horse manure is fresh it is really strong. I have had fresh sod and we just watered it and not fertilized it and it turned out really nice.

Horse manure, unless it has been well-composted at high temperatures for a long period of time, does not make a good fertilizer. Unlike cows, horses only digest their food once. So a lot of seeds that the horses eat do not break down. Using horse manure will result in a lot of unwelcome grain and grass weeds.

Horse manure is a great fertilizer for any plant, including grass and sod. You should be ware though, that it can be very acidic. You should let it set for a while before using as fertilizer so that the acid in it doesn't 'burn' the sod. This could take months, so be sure to have it ready in advance.
