This was circulated in an email dating from August 2006. No data exist to prove this to be true. In fact, in the US pennies today contain very little copper.

Using a copper penny to treat a bee sting is an unproven folk remedy. Use bicarbonate of soda for bee sting and vinager for wasp stings.

No for a bee sting a tetanus toxoid injection should be given first because if the sting id severe then body cells must be prevented from septicemia.
