If you are inside a cockpit or passenger compartment shielded from the heat and radiation, as well as have sufficient padding to prevent injury from the acceleration forces, it is safe. The space shuttles are essentially rockets.

Technically you could however rocket are designed to propel a craft to a specific height not for use over a long distance. They are designed for quick acceleration not a steady speed like a aircraft with an engine. You would burn up if the rocket works as it should.
