You can tow 1000 pounds with a car. To do so, the car will need the proper towing fixture, such as a class two or class three towing hitch. The hitch is attached to the frame of the car. If it cannot be attached to the frame, you cannot tow.

With the appropriate car and the appropriate hitch you can tow that much weight. Luckily most car have a sticker or state in their owners manual how much weight that they can tow. So just look at that to see if the car can take it. It will probably need to be a full sized car with a big engine.
