What are the rules about towing a car that are specific to Virginia?

My car stopped running while I was visiting Virginia. I know that towing rules may vary from state to state

Nothing to significant. Pay the tower, make sure he has a license, and have it off the street within a few hours of it breaking down and you're all set.

I would call the enforcement section of the DMV to find out exactly what you can or cannot do. They can be a huge help and are very friendly. It pays to be safe!

In Virginia the law requires signs to be posted if the area is a towable zone, as well as all fees be indicated. Also photos are taken to prove circumstances.

Most states have made recent changes in towing regulations in efforts to reduce the incidence of predatory towing. Current regulations in Virginia, which are among the strictest in the nation, are available online. If you don't have internet access you should be able to get assistance from any public library.

Not really a difference from any other states. You will have to pay a tower and ask them what is a cheap way you can get your car towed or transported back to your residence. If it just look like you don't have any luck with getting it to start.
