Can you tell me who makes Little Debbie cakes and how long the company has been in business?

Little Debbie was started by O.D. McKee back in the 1930's during the depression. McKee started his business by selling snack cakes out of his car. It wasn't until 1960, though, that the company finally succeeded when they decided to sell their products in family packs. The company is still owned by McKee Foods, a family bakery.

The Little Debbie Bakery originally made these "snack cakes" although they were bought by Hostess in 1993. They are still sold as "Little Debbies" because of name recognition.

Little Debbie owned by McKee Foods Corporation in Collegedale, Tennessee. Founded OD and Ruth McKee named it after one of their granddaughters. The original image on the package was a drawing made from a photo that OD carried in his wallet. Little Debbie was founded in the 1960s.
