Switched outlet? Wire goes from switch to outlet and back. From power supply to switch box, out then to the outlet. Best done by a professional, circuit breaker load must be considered.

A switch functions as an open and shut valve to electricity. Just hook up the hot side directly to the outlet and run the ground through a switch.
