Methadone is as (if not more) addictive than the drugs it replaces. To avoid complications and severe withdrawal, you should only discontinue use under the supervision of a doctor.

I would suggest that you might try to check yourself in to a detox clinic. there is a medicine that will help you with the withdrawls of the methodone. The name of it is ceboxin. Its always better to be observd by a nurse or medical professional when you are detoxing.

Some people are able to quit methadone cold turkey, and if you think you can and won't go back to heroin, go ahead, but be very careful. I would talk to your doctor first.

quitting cold turkey can be very dangerous. try decreasing the doseage little by little. refrain from any other drugs. if your a smoker, smoke more. coffee drinker drink more coffee.
