An ultrasound can be used to confirm a clinical diagnosis of a lipoma but it is not always possible to pick up a lipoma on ultrasound.

Lipoma's can be seen on a standard or 3D ultrasound, they are benign tumors usually made up of fatty tissue. They are also the most common form of fatty tissue tumors, they are soft to the touch and are able to be moved around by touch. Most people describe them with little or no pain associated with them.

Depending upon the size, if it small they may not be able to detect it. Without reason to suspect that to be an issue and it is not very large. They may not be able to see it. If it is large and they are looking for it, probably. The best way to find out is to ask the doctor.
