No, you cannot DIRECTLY play. wav files on an iPod. However, iTunes does have a built in converter so that you can listen to those songs on an iPod. Otherwise, the answer is no.

The newest classic version is supposed to play wav format. Look on apples site for more information. The compatible formats are listed on the specifications page for each model.

A. Wav file is generally a very small file, why you would want to play one on an iPod is beyond me but there are many ways of converting such a simplistic file to a format that is more palatable to the iPod its self rather than trying to get it to accept. wav alone.
