Can you play music while playing a ps3 game on the same console?

No, you can not play music at the same time you are playing a game from the same console. The system does not allow it to be played, probably to save system resources for the game. Is it a good system? Probably not, but its not a terrible loss since you can play music with another device.

No, for right now it is not possible to play music while playing a PS3 game on the PS3. I know that the Xbox 360 can do this but not the PS3. The only game I can think of that can sorta do this is Metal Gear Solid 4 which has a iPod in the gameplay.

Unlike the Xbox 360 you can not play music and games at the same time. Maybe some games offer it as a custom soundtrack feature. That allows you to use songs saved on your hard drive for different aspects of the game,but most do not allow you to just listen to your music and play.

The Play Station 3 can allow you to play both music CDs and games but not at the same time. The system only has a single disc holder so either you must play or game or play a CD. Most game systems are similar, they are all mostly just single disc plays.

You can not use the media player and play a game at the same time on a PS3. You can old do one at a time. However some games may allow you to import music for in game use.

To Caryn: the ps3 can rip music from cd's to the hd so it only needs one disc player.

This depends on the game. For example Burnout Paradise allows you to create your own play list of songs that are then used in the game.

Just some game work some games not, Its rare to find games that allow you to download it to its playlist , What gets Ps3,is that it allows you to do such awsome stuff to CD's, but does not allow you to listin while playing Games :I :( :L
