Question by  Mary (2095)

Can you paint over white vinyl siding?

We want to paint it brown.

Yes. First you will need to clean it thoroughly and then lightly sand it to rough up the surface. A light coat of primer would then need to be applied in order for the paint to stay on the vinyl. You may want to try it on a scrap piece first to compare colors.

Yes, you can. Use a good acrylic latex paint. Make sure your siding is clean and dry first and paint on an overcast but dry day if you can. Apply two coats for good coverage.

you can although it may not withstand must abuse. I would recommend a latex paint for jobs like these. It is durable and will adhere better to plastics and vinyls opposed to other types of paints. A spray paint may also be a good way to go. they have spray paint for these types of materials.
