It depends on what foods and country you are coming from or going to. You cannot, e. g. , bring beef products (bouillon, canned meat) from the UK into the U. S. You can however take a suitcase full of peanut butter to Japan. Check the specific customs regulations.

If you put it in checked luggage, this will usually be ok as long as it is not othewise forbidden (for example, you shouldn't put anything pressurized (like a can of soda)). For carry-on luggage, it is more problematic, although solids are usually still acceptable; liquids usually are not. Keep in mind that there are also weight limits for luggage.

It depends on the food, the airline, and the laws of the country you are travelling to. Meat is usually not allowed, but vegetables sometimes are. It depends of the fruit or veggie and the country you're going to. Some have very strict import laws. Your best bet is to buy foods that are vacuum sealed.

Due to recent fears of on board terrorism, you are not allowed to bring most bjects on board, including liquid, food, and extra carry-on luggage.
