Routine brake maintenance: inspect one brake per axle and adjust handbrake cable every 15,000 miles. Flush brake fluid every 30,000. Front disc pads are safe until pad material is 2mm. Watch for uneven wear of rear shoes and replace when the lowest end is about 1. 5mm thick. Check under wheel cylinder boots for leakage and replace if damp.

You should check the brake pads and rotors for wear every 3,000 miles. Replace both front and rear pads sets when needed. Resurface rotors and replace when they become warped or show run out.

Replacing the pads is the first big step. There are 2 bolts on the back of the brake caliper, remove them and carefully pull the caliper off the rotor. Pop the brake pads out of their holder with a screw driver, drop new ones in and done.

Brakes don't really require any maintaince. You'll know when they need to be repalced but you'll feel the pulsation from the rotors and the squeaking from the pads.

First you need to check the brake fluid and make sure it is full, located under the hood. Next you need to replace the brake pads every 20,000 miles. Next i would change the rotors every 4 years. The calipers can be rebuilt, only once ever 10 years. If you do all this you brakes will never have problems.
