Make sure you protect your skin and eyes. When the fibers get into your skin, they'll stay there until you pluck them out.

Fiberglass is actually fairly easy to work with. You just need to take a new piece of fiberglass and put it in the spot where it is needed then sand over top of it. Since you're working with a surfboard I recommend waiting until the board is dry before doing anything.
