When are eye patches used to treat children?

An eye patch may be used to cover an injury. Years ago an eye patch was used to cover the child's good eye so the bad or weak eye could be "made stronger." With all the different eye treatments of today the patch isn't used much except as protection to an injury.

Eye patches can be used to treat a lazy eye in children or it may be used following an injury. They're typically not used with pink eye or other infections.
