Can you get arthritis in your tailbone?

Answer by  Binome (1975)

It's generally unlikely, since it doesn't move enough for the joints to become irritated and inflamed. Rheumatoid arthritis can affect it however.

Yes you can. Though usually you get arthritis after an injury of some kind because your joints get inflamed. Though I am not sure, you can talk to your doctor if you are afraid you will develop arthritis.

Arthritis generally affects joints. There are joints between the bones that make up the tailbone, but as these joints are not very mobile, they are not often affected by arthritis.

Yes. Pain in the bony area located between the buttock is called coccydynia and is associated with the pain and tenderness at the tip of the tail bone between the buttock. It gets worse often sitting. Coccydynia is often caused by an injury. There are more reason for cause like infection, fractured bone etc. ,
