Can you freeze cream cheese?

I want to know if you can freeze it by itself or in a casserole.

I don't see why it can't be. You can freeze cheese cake, which is made mainly from cream cheese.

It's not a good idea to freeze cream cheese. The cheese will still be safe to eat but the texture will be curdled and unpleasant when you thaw it. If you've already cooked it in a casserole, though, that shouldn't be a problem.

I make a casserole dish that has cream cheese in it and freeze it all the time, it does not affect the taste or texture at all. You should be able to freeze it either way.

I just did this in a deep freeze for a month, in the container and then a freezer bag. It came out okay. I wouldn't see why not in a casserole, as long as it was not for a long period of time and in a good container.
