It was so hot outside that the world seemed to stand still. Birds quit singing, dogs quit barking, children quit playing and adults quit working. When you stepped on the cement sidewalk, the soles on your shoes melted. The water in the birdbath started to boil, and the birds didn't drink for fear of being cooked.

when the ice cream man on his tricycle came into the neighborhood the children mobbed him, knocked him down and stole all of his ice cream which melted before the little thives could eat it.

i could cook dinner for fifty people on the football team. it was so hot that the eggs and beef cooked so fast because of the hot burning ground when you put it on the ground. even though it was not clean food, it was still good. it was an interesting time though.
