Can you dye polyester?

Is there anything special to know?

Not usually. To dye a piece of cloth the cloth must be permeable. Natural fibers are much more likely to accept the dye. Polyester is plastic, not a natural fiber.

To really dye polyester, you need to get a specialty dye, and it's really toxic. Easier synthetic options would be rayon and nylon, which respond pretty well to dyes made for protein based fabric (hot water dyes). In my experience, polyester won't budge with anything you can just buy anywhere.
