"Affirmance" is an archaic way of saying "affirmation. " You would most likely see "affirmance" in Old English and Middle English texts, but not in modern language.

Affirmance is a legal term that relates to the disposition of court cases. If you win a judgment or verdict at trial and your opponent appeals the decision to a higher court but the judgment or verdict of the trial court stands, this is an affirmance.
