If you are claiming acting income on schedule C, deduct them on schedule C. If you receive a W2 for acting, then you can possibly claim them on schedule A, employee expenses. If this is a volunteer group, you can probably claim them on schedule A, charitable.

You can deduct expenses as they are relative to the requirements of your employment. If you were required to take acting classes, for example, as a condition of your employment, you can deduct those costs. If you took acting classes because you want to be an actor, then no.

You can deduct this from your income tax as you are self-employed and these are business related expenses. You need to prove they are business related and that you are self employed.
