Facial numbness is not considered a symptom of TMJ (there is no scientific proof yet). The numbness could be caused from any number of other factors, with TMJ being indirectly involved. It is a good idea to consult a neurologist in this case, a qualified doctor would be able to shed some light on this issue.

Numbness is not one of the symptoms of temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ)the symptoms include headaches, jaw popping, ear pain, dizziness, tinnitus (ringing in the ears)due to misalignment of the bite or jaw.
