Can someone have a mild stroke and not know it?

Yes, absolutely. Smaller strokes are sometimes referred to as TIA which stands for Transient Ischemic Attack. My grandmother had them before she had a much larger stroke and we didn't realize until later that she had then at all. They're often referred to as mini or warning strokes. Medical scans can show for certain if someone has had one.

There is such a thing as a "mini" stroke that is pretty mild and you may not recognize the symptoms.

Yes. It is possible to not know if you have had a stroke if it is mild enough. You may think that you are having a bad headache or just feeling strange. Only your doctor can tell you if you have had a stroke.

I guess you could have a very mild one and not noticed. Usually you will have a little numbness, or some pulling or drawing of your muscles. You need to go immediately, if you think you have had a stroke, to the doctor. They say as soon as possible the doctor has medications than might reverse some of the damaged.
