Question by  mrperc (5)

Can my company require me to pay for asbestos training if I miss the pre-paid class offered by the employer?

They sent out a letter that the class is on Saturday. We only work Monday through Friday. The letter says I have to attend or go another time and pay for it myself.

The additional content you added in the answers has no bearing on the answers. You must attend the policy or arrange it on your own. "Two-day notice" is not an issue.

Yes. It's their policy and you knew about it, so if you miss it, you have to pay. In today's economy you should be grateful you have a job.

You employer is generally not obligated to pay for any class whatsoever. Thus, you may have to pay to go another time if you refuse to go when it's offered.

Your company can require the training. They likely are required to pay overtime for the extra day to hourly employees. There is no legal requirement for notice.
