Yes it does damage the food by changing the molecular make up of the food which in turn makes it taste bad. So yes it does damage the food.

Freezer burn will damage food in the sense it will not taste as good and probably be overly dry but it is safe to eat.

Freezer burn can damage all food, especially meat. It changes the nutritional value and can drastically change the texture making it very rubbery or even watering and slightly disintegrated. Most of all it leads to a very bad taste in the food.

Freezer damages your food and causes it to taste terribly. It can also damage the texture of it and will make it tough. I do not suggest eating freezer burnt food.

Freezer burn does damage food at least if the taste of the food is your criteria, There is a story about some scientists who found a woolly mammoth and actually ate part of him near the north pole. They said it tasted like rotten meat, but they lived.

I think it does. The meat, for example, will be hard on the areas with the freezer burn. Don't think it will damage all foods (ice creams and such) but seems to do it with meats.
