In fact most english bulldogs cannot swim, but it isn't impossible. They have stubby legs and high body density to it's hard to make the appropriate movements.

While some can, due to their short legs, English Bulldogs are best left out of the water. While there are buoyance devices available for them, they're better left on land.

While the usual answer is "no", there are a few bulldogs that can swim in a pool quite easily. The standard suggestion is to keep your bulldog away from water.
