Anyone can be depressed. Animals have emotions like anyone else, that can go up or down. However, house pets really don't ask much of their people, so it should be moderately easy to figure out the problem. Dogs often act depressed or anxious if they are left alone a lot.

Yes! Dogs are sensitive creatures that can be happy, sad, and even depressed. Does your dog get outside enough? Is he/she bored? Try to spend more time with your dog and offer new stimulation.

Yes. Dogs need to have their minds stimulated by going for walks or having a daily 'job' to do i. e. , fetching the mail, slippers, newspapers etc. Give your dog something different to look forward to everyday. Watch for yawning as this is a sign of stress. Constant licking can also be a sign of nerves or stress.

Adog can become depressed if it does not recieve human companionship. Dogs are like people and need to know they are loved and wanted. Take time out each day and give your dog attention, take him for a walk.
