Blood work is a way to detect herpes when there are no signs. Although a false negative is possible if you were recently infected because it can take several weeks for the HSV antibodies to show up in your blood.

Yes. If you want to know if you have herpes or not, blood work might show antibodies for herpes which later on might be stated infectious

Yes, blood work can show if your blood is infected with the herpes virus. It can't show if you're having an outbreak, though, so always use protection no matter how you feel.
