Can a tooth be extracted if the patient is taking fosamax?

I am having teeth problems and am concerned about having the extraction while on medication.

Talk to your dentist about your concerns. There is no reason you can't have your teeth cared for but it may involve liasion between your doctor and dentist and possibly changes to the time of day you take your tablets. And you may not need the tooth out - it may be repairable. Good Luck!!

Your dentist can probably extract the teeth but will probably have to talk to your physician. You may have to take a drug "holiday" before the extractions.

No it can't be extracted because of the effects the fosamax has on the body. If you extract then you will get more pain and it will be harder for you to recover.

yes but special precautions need to be taken first possibly a blood test to determine how well you would heal after having a tooth extracted. fosamax has a tendency to cause patients bone in the jaw not to heal all the way back together again.

Actually fosamax is taken regarding postmenstrual related situation. This has not much of a thing to do with extraction. Please check out other factors like sugar, pressure etc.
