Tongue piercings are notoriously risky for infections. As such, a tongue piercing could effect the health of the entire body. It's not unheard of for an infection that begins in the nasal cavity or mouth to drip down and cause harm to the throat.

A tongue piercing can effect your throat. If you were to get an infection your tongue could swell up and the swelling could cause your throat to swell. And the outcome of doing so would result in drinking liquids and only being able to suck on ice cream bars, because the cold soothes the throat. Also, bacteria can spread.

Yes, it can because the piercing will attract bacteria. Infections like strep throat can occur.Infections can occur anywhere there is unhealed and infected areas i.e tongue piercing. Once there is infection it can spread to your throat. Make sure to talk to your doctor about this, as the treatment for your throat may require additional attention.
