Yes, they can get this disease. Boxers are especially prone to this. It can be caused by bacteria or by parasites. Depending on the cause, the treatment will differ. The dog should have treatment from a vet. It is not usually fatal if treated, but can lead to a harmful health condition if it becomes chronic.

yes dogs can get colitis and it is a very common thing with dogs. when they indigest a virus and it can even be caused by sum cancers

Call the vet and ask them for advice on the problem it could be something totally different and I am sure you want the best care.
