Can a co-trustee be the sole beneficiary of a trust?

Yes. A trustee may be a bank asked to supervise the trust. The co-trustee may be a friend or a relative of the beneficiary who is not related to the person who died.

No, they can not and there is an exact reason as to why they are the co-trustee. The initial person who signed up the co-trustee will be the main beneficiary.
