Most dogs are between 5-7 months old. This is a major surgery for a dog and sometimes complications arise but most dogs get along fine after the surgery. If at all possible the vet won't spay if dog is in heat.

When they reach sexual maturity, which is 4 months at youngest for some breeds. Most dogs reach that stage between 6 to 8 months.

You absolutely want to spay your dog before she goes into heat (8-12 months). Most veterinarians recommend between 4 and 6 months of age.

At age 6 months is the start of when you can spay or neuter a dog. Since with female dogs it's more of a surgery they don't recommend you getting it done any sooner than that.

It depends on the breed, size, etc... but usually it's acceptable around 5 or 6 months already. Be sure to ask your vet for advice concerning your own dog and do it before the first heat or soon after. If you want to do it after, watch your dog during the heat.

Not before 6-8 weeks old, but before 6 months of age. By 6 months of age, a dog is capable of reproduction, so if you absolutely do not want any puppies, that is your cut off date. Waiting until she has had one cycle is not a medical necessity, though a lot of people recommend it.

The average age for this procedure is six to eight months. Waiting until after this point can actually cause behavior problems for the dog, so do not neglect to go ahead and schedule an appointment to get the puppy spayed as soon as she reaches the approved age for such.

The American Veterinary Medical Association, supports early neutering of dogs within the first year. There are many side effects to spaying a dog, including hormone problems and cancer, but its agreed that spaying early reduces these problems.

Shelters and rescues will spay dogs at 2 months old. It is best to wait till 6 months and have it done at an animal hospital.

Dogs reach adulthood after 3 years and it's best to let them develop properly on a hormonal level. Fixing any earlier will have an effect on their physical growth.
