Are there laws that give individuals the right to cancel a franchise contract?

The contract itself will have language that addresses cancellation or procedures in the event of breach of the contract. The law that governs contracts is contract law. There is no special legislation that governs franchise agreement except that the contract must be legal, etc. Review the contract for options. It might be best to consult with an attorney.

Yes, there certainly are. Read your fine print, but also check your local and state laws, which may very well give you cause above and beyond your contract to dismiss that contract. There may be mitigating circumstances or escape clauses in your contract, or beyond that, in your state's law, if the franchise agreement was written in another jurisdiction.
