The legal age for drinking alcohol is 21. It is available in many hotels as well as nightclubs and bars. They can stay open until 3 a.m. but most close a little earlier than that. You are not allowed to drink in public anywhere and getting caught drinking and driving can lead to fines, imprisonment, lashings, or even deportations!

As Dubai has a large muslim population, drinking in public places is frowned upon or banned, depending on the area. That is not to say that drinking is illegal there, just done behind closed doors. Liqour stores are not open during all muslim holidays.

As Dubai is part of a Muslim country (the United Arab Emirates), there are laws against drinking in Dubai. That said, the laws in Dubai are much more liberal than other Muslim countries. For instance, you can drink in hotels, so the vibrant bar scene in Dubai is concentrated there.
