Federal student aid funded by the government does not favor marital status, gender, age, race, ethnicity, disability in the granting of financial aid. That would be against federal law. Depending on your income, you could likely be eligible for financial aid. You need to complete a FAFSA. Talk to the SFA counselor at the school you plan to attend.

Grants for college offered by the federal government based strictly on need. There are no special programs for "single mothers," minorities, female v. male, age, religion, career plans or anything else that sets one group from another. The playing field is level. Single mothers generally fall into a lower income bracket; therefore, are usually eligible based on need.

Usually state and federal assistance are given to single mothers to help them with day to day living. There are a number of programs available to single mothrs who wish to obtain a higher education. Scholarships and grants are also givien on an "as-needed" basis with consideration regarding parental status.

There aren't any specific grants offered federally, but you may be able to find scholarships and if you're a single mom, your income supporting more than just yourself will probably qualify you for Federal Pell grant.

File your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www. fafsa. ed. gov. Then check with the college you want to go to about applying for financial aid to attend. Whil there aren't grants specifically for single moms, you may qualify for federal and state grants based on your income. Good luck!

Being a single mother, you can get many scholarships and grants. The easiest to get are the federal pell grant and various state grants. To see how many you qualify for, visit a college financial aid office.

Yes, I am a single mother also, and am in college. First complete FAFSA(Free application for federal student aid). This determines EFC(Expected Financial Contribution)that is used to figure out how much aid you will get. Then fill out the financial aid applications at the college. Good luck!

There are several grants available for any number of things, especially single mothers. FAFSA/ federal tap and Pell give free money, and since you have a dependent you will get more. Check with the school itself, they might have grants available from local business or the college itself. Also visit scholarship websites.
