Yes, because of the reduction of its natural habitat since 1960 in the Himalayas, Burma and the Chinese provinces of Sichuan and Yunnan. It is on the red list of IUCN. But broconnage and reducing its territory causes genetic inbreeding. The territory must be protected to prevent isolation of certain populations.

Red Pandas are endangered due to habitat loss and hunting for fur. There are fewer than 2500 adult red pandas. They are adaptable to living in captivity, is common in zoos, and though it has a low birth rate naturally, breeding in zoos has been successful- The Knoxville and Rotterdam Zoos particularly have had good success with their breeding programs.

They're currently classified as a vulnerable species and their numbers in the wild are still declining. Exact numbers are hard to determine because other animals are confused as them. Hunting it is illegal and it is protected in all countries where it lives but conservation efforts are highly variable between countries.

The red panda bear is currently on the endangered species list. Due to its reclusive nature and the preference to live in difficult terrain, their numbers continue to dwindle. The current estimate for these animals is around 2500 that are left in the wild. Current programs are attempting to breed the animals in captivity to release into the wild.
