Are the mouths of dogs really clean?

My brother lets his dog eat off of his spoon and he says that their mouths are cleaner than ours.

Not cleaner than humans, dont belive me? Im sure "spike" has eaten his own feces before. Dogs and Humans have bacteria in their mouths, they need these bacteria to break down food, drinks, and other mouth activities. The bacteria in either mouth is "species specific". meaning dog germs cant live without dogs. so a dogs licks wont transfer most germs.

No. Consider they clean themselves and the bacteria on them from being outside and through their feces and urine. Their mouths have enzymes that allow them to avoid becoming sick, but that does not make them cleaner. Your brother's habit would be the same as letting another person lick the spoon.

That is a myth. Dogs mouths are actually full of bacteria since they're not too fussy about what they eat. Dogs do things like lick their butts and eat trash. Kissing your dog is fine, just keep the vaccines up to date.
