Rottweilers generally are gentle with kids, but can be clumsy. As with all large breeds that are family dogs, they should be trained and should be supervised in new situations.

I do not think that sounds safe. They were bred for fighting and I would be scared about what they might do to kids.

If you get one from a reputable breeder, they are good for older kids. They are playful and active, but they are large enough to accidentally injure a small child.

Yes - if they are reared from puppyhood to adulthood alongside the children they will be very protective of the children.
