Portulacas are perennial in Zones 9-10. They thrive in hot and dry climates, blooming non-stop. Any further north and they should be treated as non-hardy annuals as the first frost will kill them. Plant them after the last chance of frost has passed; here in Colorado, that is at least one week after Memorial Day.
Perennials live for more than two years and the Portulacas, Moss Rose, are in that category. They die down each fall and then return, growing from the same plant.
Not necessarily. Some of these Portulacas if grown in Zone 8 or warmer climate may die off in the winter, self seed and grow back but they don't normally.
No, these plants (also known as moss roses) are annuals. They grow in almost any type of soil, but prefer dry soil and are very drought tolerant. They should be planted in full sun and trimmed back when they get "leggy."
Moss rose is an annual that grows everywhere and in all kinds of soil. They self-sow and spread rapidly. Plant in rock walls, between rocks in garden, or even sidewalks and they sprout up everywhere producing flowers in many colors. They love hot weather and can survive light drought. They require little care.
Also known as Rose Moss, this is considered to be a annual. They do reseed themselves all summer long. But the only way to save the plant during winter is to bring it inside or keep in a area of your garage that stays above freezing. Seeds can be saved from the plant for next years planting.
the plant protulacas are not perennial, but,it is succulent annual plant with vibrant coloured flowers seen in southern brazil and argentina. it require sun light for flowering ,it needs regular watering for better growing.
Healthy flowering plants-However I would thought portulaca loved the sun and planted them in area with all day sunshine. They open flowers someday usually may be watch, closeup.
There are 2 versions. I don't know but I'm in zone 10 and bought one last summer and still there in the vase outside. I didn't buy more and didn't transfer it thinking it will die but she still there with flowers all the time.
