Mineral rights are granted through contractual agreement between the landowner the company/individual seeking the rights. Terms of the contract will detail the disposition of the rights in the event of the death of the landowner with respect to heirs. An individual who inherits land inherits the mineral rights, unless the rights have been assigned otherwise.

Yes, in most states mineral rights are passed through inheritance. It is not automatically transferred with the sale of property for example, if a home is on the land and the home is sold; the land rights are not included. If legally willed, mineral rights are passed to heirs.

Yes, for example if your parents owned mineral rights & they both have passed away the mineral rights do transfer down to you because minerals are inheritable just like everything else.

Yes , mineral rights are passed through inheritance though not automatically. Generally, there will be an order of distribution in the probate estate giving all the heirs all the property (real, mixed, and personal). That should be recorded in the land deed records of the county where the mineral rights are.
