Question by  John83 (20)

Will your liver enzymes be an indication of cancer?

I am having a liver enzyme test.

Answer by  gabriella10 (353)

Yes, they can. these enzymes are called transaminases are associated with inflammation and/or injury to liver cells. Cancer can produce liver inflammation. However, many other conditions less severe such as Hepatitis. these enzymes are also tested too reveal hepatic inflammation due to a prolong use of medications or alcohol consumption

A liver function test is generally used to determine if the liver is operating properly and not if cancer is present. If cancer is present elsewhere in the body, the liver may be operating differently, however.

Liver enzymes is not a indication of cancer. It means the body is fiting against something and could be indication of aliver disorder or liver cells.

It all depends. The doctor can tell you exactly how that works and as far as the enzymes that is something a medical professional needs to explain. They have a test they can do on you that will tell them exactly what the problem is and yes sometimes if they are high can be an indication but not always

Answer by  Bobinski (1652)

If the test shows enzymes elevated it means some tissue damage. This could be from medications, hepatitis, cancer or cirrhosis. Usually a biopsy is done if elevation is too high.
