Do not give cherries or products containing cherries, cherry tree leaves, or cherry tree bark to a horse. Cherry tree leaves, bark, and fruit are toxic to horses. You could make your horse sicker, or even kill your horse.
Cherries can be fatal to horses! What made you consider cherries?! Give your colicky horse a vet call. Putting oil (can't recall, is it mineral oil? Your vet can tell you. ) in a little portion of their feed will help slide things through (if they're willing to eat).
Wild cherry trees are poisonous to horses. The wilted leaves and bark of the trees contain cyanide and a very small amount can be fatal. Symptoms of wild cherry poisoning can include colic like symptoms. I would advise you to call your vet. If the horse is rolling, get him up and have someone walk him while you are calling.
