Question by  anurag (36)

Why would you buy something that can only be worn once?

Isn't that wasteful?

In terms of practical usage, it may appear so. However if you factor in the sentiment value it may no longer appear that way. A bride may wear her wedding dress just once, but the lovely memories of her wedding day is embedded in that dress. That is worth the money.

Yes, it is. That said, it isn't a new idea-- having frivolous clothing has been a sign of prosperity for a long time. I think that has carried over in our society to things like prom and wedding dresses. If you do invest in such an item at some point, there are many places you can donate them.
